League Coordinator Rodney Arndt
In 2006 SASCAR will begin running a cup series on Wednesday nights and
may switch over to different mods and or sims based on interest and
availability.
Race details
All races will be run as follows:
Mode: Simulation
Damage: Realistic
Distance: 40%
Weather: Fixed 70 degrees clear no wind.
Pace lap: Full
Yellow flags: On
Tire/Fuel wear: 1X
Restarts: Double File
Setup: Fixed (Expert)

Road courses will be run with yellows off.
Schedule
2006 Schedule
The 2006 SASCAR schedule will imitate the 2006 NASCAR Cup schedule for
the first 12 races. In other words, if NASCAR runs at Daytona on Friday,
Saturday, or Sunday, then SASCAR will compete at Daytona on the following
Wednesday. Races will be run every Wednesday night. Practice will be from
8:15 to 9:15pm EST. Qualifying begins at 9:15pm EST. The rest of the
schedule is still to be determined.
Drivers/Id’s
1) To become a driver in SASCAR, you must come recommended from a fellow
SASCAR member.
2) All SASCAR drivers will be required to have different car numbers & car
files. This not only adds to the realism of the sim, but also aids for
scoring purposes & helps to avoid on-line racing confusion. Car and truck
numbers are given on a 1st come 1st serve basis.
3) Driver’s ids will require the use of real names and or first initial with
last name. Examples of what is acceptable are as follows: Rod Arndt, or
Rodney Arndt, or R_Arndt, or R-Arndt, or RArndt.
4) New QUALIFIED members that have come recommended from fellow SASCAR
drivers may be added to a division at any time to help fill a field or to
replace drivers that retire.
5) Drivers that continue to have poor connections on a regular basis will
NOT be allowed to race until they attain a more stable connection. If you've
been sidelined a long time due to unstable connections, we feel it is in the
best interest for all involved that you once again prove to us that you have
achieved a quality connection as well as the seat time to be competitive &
safe on the track.
6) Drivers that do NOT attend races for an extended period of time & without
an explanation, will be removed from the league & replaced with new drivers
in an effort to maintain a full field at all times.
Driver's meeting
No later than 12 hours before the race, the Series Coordinator will send
out the "DM" (driver's meeting). It will contain and look something like
this...

You can't clear a black flag on a restart:
You must clear a black flag under green conditions, unless you’re
flagged for dropping debris.
Before you log on
The following auto chat message texts are preferred (they are in your
auto chat.txt file)
"PITTING (user id)"
"EXITING (user id)"
"Pass user id low"
Everyone is required to use "PITTING (user id)" when pitting under the
green flag. Use this message when on the backstretch (front if you pit in
the back).
"EXITING (user id)" isn't required at every track, but it's suggested
that you use it when pulling out of your pit stall or onto the track. This
warns people coming up behind you that you're about to pull out. At tracks
like Martinsville it will be mandatory. At tracks like Darlington, there's
no need if you obey the merge line. The driver's meeting will state if the
exit is mandatory for that race. Auto chat messages are to be kept short.

Chat
When the Series Coordinator is talking in ALL CAPS, quit all public
conversation and give him the floor. You are responsible for all information
given by the Series Coordinator.
PRACTICE CHAT. Chatting is permitted.
NO CHAT DURING QUALIFYING. Period. Once "Qualifying complete" is shown,
you may congratulate whomever you wish. ANY chat during qualifying could
result in penalty.
WARMUP CHAT. Chatting is permitted. If you have any questions ask them
now.
NO UNNECESSARY CHAT WITH ONE LAP TO GO. Unnecessary chat is deemed as
anything not pertaining to an action you will be taking on the track.
Telling a driver to pass high on a restart, or that you lost a gear is
permitted. Any unnecessary chat with one to go could result in a penalty.
NO UNNECESSARY CHAT DURING GREEN FLAG RACING. Unnecessary chat is deemed
as anything not pertaining to an action you will be taking on the track.
Telling drivers when you’re pitting or exiting the pits or to pass low is an
action performed on the track which is ok or even required. The only reason
this type of chat is permitted is because it replaces hand signals that we
do not have in the sim. All other chat is unnecessary & unrealistic & could
result in a penalty. You can't talk to other drivers in a "real" racecar so
either should we.
YELLOW FLAG CHAT. Is permitted up till the one lap to go signal.
Excessive yellow flag chat can be disruptive to some and therefore
discouraged. Damaging another car while chatting under yellow will result in
a penalty.
Polling and voting system
N2003 allows us the option as drivers to hold a poll, which will allow
drivers to vote on various actions in a race. These actions include ejecting
drivers, throwing yellows, black-flagging & clearing black flags, as well as
adding or taking laps away & switching tracks. Nobody will be allowed to use
this polling system except the division coordinator. Anyone trying to enter
a poll during a race will be automatically disqualified & forced to serve a
one-race suspension.
Race nomination
The Division Coordinator will nominate practice at 8:15pm EST. Practice
may be delayed for whatever reason deemed necessary. The Division
Coordinator AND ONLY the Division Coordinator can start, cancel, postpone or
restart the server unless a specific notice is given the morning of the DM.
If the Division Coordinator didn't say it, it isn't true. Qualifying will
always begin at 9:15 EST. Pay attention to the clock on the wall, not the
time remaining in the practice session. If the server should crash or have
to be reset during practice, it could throw off the time remaining till
qualifying begins. Therefore advancing to the qualifying session with time
still remaining in practice is possible. The division coordinator will post
in chat when qualifying is to begin. The goal here is to ALWAYS qualify on
time (9:15pm EST). If for some reason we cannot get the server up & running
by 9:15pm EST the race will be canceled & rescheduled to another date
whenever possible. If we cannot begin qualifying by 9:15pm EST we will not
wait later to begin and it will be called a rain out.
I want to warn everyone to be on time. WE DO NOT WAIT FOR ANYONE TO JOIN
THE RACE. If you’re not logged onto the server by 9:15pm EST chances are you
won't be getting in. WE WILL NOT RESTART THE SERVER IF ANYONE MISSES
QUALIFYING.
Practice
Practice is limited to 60 minutes and is not a time to see how hard you
can dive into the turn. If you haven't done that in off-line practice, you
don't belong in the race. It takes 2-3 laps to heat up your tires and
another 2-3 to see what tweaks you need to make. Therefore there should be
absolutely NO wrecks in practice. Try to space out as best you can and be
extremely cautious in practice.
Qualifying
NO CHAT DURING QUALIFYING. Period. Once "Qualifying complete" is shown,
you may congratulate whomever you wish.
Warm up
Warm ups are usually short and don't provide much time for practice. You
are responsible for doing one thing during warm up.
1) Locate your pit. Is it in the front stretch? Is it at the end of pit
road?
Race
All races will be nominated with realistic damage for both divisions,
pace lap & yellows on. Bump drafting will be allowed on superspeedways only.
Starts/Restarts
Your goal during pace laps and cautions should be to be .5 seconds behind
the car in front of you. Leave no less than .3 seconds and no more than .7
seconds For double & single file starts and restarts, stagger until the
final straightaway before a restart then tighten up. As a general guideline,
all cars positioned as an ODD number should place themselves to the left or
towards the bottom of the track, (i.e. if your in position 1, 3, 5 etc.) All
cars positioned as an EVEN number should place themselves to the right or
towards the top of the track, (i.e. if your in position 2, 4, 6 etc.)
Continue to stagger positions throughout the entire field. Lap cars can
screw up the odd/even method of staggering. The goal here is to be in the
opposite position of the car directly in front of you (high or low). This
will decrease the chance of rear ending the driver in front of you under
caution. If you are following a lap car that is running low on the track you
should be up high. If he's running high you should be low.
Anyone causing damage during a pace lap or caution lap will be subject to
a penalty. Maintain a constant speed. If the pace speed is 70, do 70. Not
80, 60, 90, 60. Brake checking when you are the pole position, is not
allowed. Brake checking is the act of tapping the brakes just before a
restart to force the cars behind you to also brake.
Double File Restarts
Races will be run using the double file restart option.
Double file restarts allow those a lap down an opportunity to make up a
lap. Overaggressive driving that leads to taking the leaders out or
purposely driving them high up the track to make up a lap will not be
tolerated & will result in penalty. Passing cars that are on the same lap as
you before the backstretch, on the lap of a restart is highly discouraged
and not recommended, but not illegal. If a car loses or has lost a gear and
tells you before a restart to pass high, a driver blows an engine, spins or
gets caught up in a wreck before the backstretch, or is generally off pace
due to damage or worn tires, it may be in the best interest to pass someone
to avoid an accident or to avoid being the cause of a potentially new
accident. Passing cars on the same lap as you before the backstretch is
allowed. However, causing an accident from attempting a pass before the
backstretch, on a car that is on the same lap, as you will result in the
most severe penalty of minus 40 championship points.
Green
The pole position starts the race. Same for the leader under caution. Not
the pace car diving into the pits & not the outside pole sitter. The race
leader must maintain pace speed & accelerate only when the green flag flies.
Turn 1; lap 1 pile-ups will not be tolerated. You can't win if you don't
make it out of turn 2 on the first lap.
Jumping the start will not be tolerated. What is considered jumping the
start? Any driver that accelerates before the S/F line & doesn't hold the
pace lap speed for any given track before taking the green. This includes
lying back by more than 1 second and accelerating before the green flag
flies or the car in front of you accelerates. This includes the outside pole
sitter going when the pace car dives but before the pole sitter goes.
There's usually a reason that car is in front of you. He's faster. And if
he's not faster, you'll pass him anyway without a flying start.
2 Spin Rule
Anyone that causes a self initiated spin, that brings out a yellow flag,
two times in 1 event will be required to park there car for the night. A
self-initiated spin is defined as a spin caused by yourself without any
contact from another driver, which results in a yellow flag. Failure to park
the car after two self spins will result in an additional 5 point penalty
per additional spin on top of the 10 points you've already received for the
original two self inflicted spins plus. A post race penalty of minus 1 lap
per infraction will also take place.
Lap Cars
Lap cars must let leaders pass. Lap cars are defined as cars "not on the
lead lap". The only exception is if lapped cars are racing for position or
if you’re ahead of the leader after a restart trying to gain a lap back. In
this situation, it's the responsibility of the leader to make a safe pass.
As a general rule, faster cars should pass lap cars on the INSIDE groove.
Depending on the track & or the configuration, it may be best to allow an
outside pass. A track like Darlington comes to mind here. If majority
understands that most passing of lap cars will be done on the inside, it
should make passing much safer for both lapped & lead lap cars.
Lap cars with 15 or less laps remaining
If at any time were under caution with 15 or less laps remaining, all lap
cars MUST pass through the pits as soon as they become open, an then EVERY
lap under caution until the restart. Lap cars MUST obey the official at the
end of pit road. He will hold the stop sign until those that didn't pit pass
by. (It is ok to pit for tires or fuel if you so choose, but it is not a
requirement) No passing amongst lap cars during this time unless a lap car
chooses to STOP in his pit stall for tires & or fuel. Failure to comply will
result in a penalty. The idea behind this rule is to allow those drivers,
both on the lead lap, as well as those not on the lead lap, a chance to race
for position against those on the same lap as themselves.
Damage
When damaged and/or unable to move due to a blown tire press CTRL+T to
initiate a tow back to your pits. Stay low or off the track when trying to
limp back to the pits for repairs. If you're damaged and running slow,
consider leaving. Anyone crossing traffic while damaged and causing an
accident will be (at minimum) penalized. If you're damaged and running slow,
consider leaving.
Blocking
Diving to the inside and trying to out brake another car is a very good
way of wrecking both cars. No intentional bumping. Blocking will be allowed
only on the last 2 laps of the race, only when racing for position, and only
if you are safely ahead of the car you are blocking. It is the
responsibility of the overtaking driver to initiate a clean & safe pass once
position is established.
Yellow
Racing back to the S/F line while under caution is NOT allowed unless
there are 5 or fewer laps remaining. If a caution should fly when two cars
are running side by side, the position should be yielded to the driver that
led or was in front the lap previous. This is not a rule but a guideline and
more or less a gentleman’s agreement amongst drivers.
In almost every caution, there is a car sitting still somewhere. There is
no reason not to know where that car is. Use your F2 window to watch for
cars that are not moving. If you approach one of these, slow up and use
extreme caution. Passing damaged cars involved in an accident is allowed.
This does NOT mean trading paint out of turn 4 with a damaged or slower car.
If you've started your move, then try to finish it. If you haven't started
your pass, then consider waiting until the restart. Chances are this driver
will be pitting to repair damage any ways.
Anyone plowing into an unmoving car at full throttle will be dealt with
harshly. Immediately after the caution flag comes out, ease off the pace
slightly to give yourself room to maneuver in case you need to avoid a
wreck. When you take the waving yellow flag at the start/finish line, don't
slow down suddenly. Instead ease off slightly until you've reached the back
straight. The leader should continue at 90% normal speed until catching the
pace car and then decelerate smoothly down to pace speed.
If you cause an accident or are involved in an incident that brings out a
caution you may receive a penalty. Self-inflicted cautions include any type
of caution that you cause due to your own driver error without any contact
from a fellow competitor. I.e. Self-spins. Inflicted violations are those
cautions that bring out a yellow due to direct contact with a fellow
competitor. I.e. initiating contact with another car that causes a
competitor to spin or receive damage. Mechanical failures such as blowing an
engine or obvious warps do not count towards this penalty. All caution
situations will be reviewed through replay for verification to determine who
is at fault.
Lucky Dog
The lucky dog rule will not be implemented this season in SASCAR. As a
general rule, when a caution comes out, leaders are to lift off the throttle
and slow and maintain pace speed. Cars on the lead lap are not permitted to
race back to the line or pass, unless there are 5 or fewer laps remaining in
the race. However, cars a lap or more down are permitted to pass cars on the
lead lap in an attempt to get a lap back. When attempting to get a lap back,
no passing is allowed between lap cars unless they are directly involved in
the accident that triggered the caution. As a gentleman's agreement, lead
cars should give room to those attempting to regain a lap back.
Pitting
If you pit under green, you MUST post "PITTING (user id)" on the last
straightaway before you pit. In general, once you go below the white line,
you should pit. This is not a requirement should a caution be released and
pit road becomes closed while you are attempting to pit. Any contact with
another car, or problems caused in an attempt to "fake pit" will result in a
penalty. Certain tracks may require the use of access roads when pitting &
will be mentioned in the DM the morning of the race.
Exiting pits
You MUST stay below the blend line until the next straightaway. In
practice, warm up and race. At certain tracks where there are no blend lines
special rules will be mentioned in the DM for that specific track the
morning of.
Last 5 laps
You can be more aggressive, but please don't use 5 to go as the signal to
pass everyone you can see. There should never be a caution from 5 to go to 2
to go. Set up that last lap pass, but don't make a kamikaze move.
Out of fuel
Every car must cross the S/F line under it's own power. If you run out of
fuel call for the tow truck & take your DNF. Being pushed across the S/F
line from a fellow competitor will result in a disqualification.
After the checkers
Drive all the way around and enter your pits. Don't leave your car
sitting on the track.
Mandatory export of drivers race results
ALL DRIVERS must save their race results after each race. We may ask any
driver at random to send us their exported race results for verification.
You don't need to send your results to the officials unless the league
coordinator asks for it. You will be disqualified if failing to present a
valid race result when requested.
Bump drafting is allowed at Daytona and Talladega. Be forewarned however
that you can be penalized for bumping a car than spins and loses control or
receives damage. Passing below the yellow line that runs around the inside
of the track is not allowed. Two tires on the line are ok. Two tires over
the line are not. Passing below the yellow line is allowed only if it is to
avoid an accident. Penalty is 20 championship points plus a one-lap penalty
per every car passed below the yellow line.
Post race chat is for congratulations and party plans. It is NOT for
yelling, cussing, blaming others or accusations. If you want to bicker with
someone, take it somewhere else.
NO ONE WANTS TO HEAR IT! Not during or after the races. Nor privately to
one another. We have ZERO tolerance for flamers. Simply put, you flame you
will be immediately banned from the race and SASCAR FOREVER. This will
include Thank you's (TY) after a wreck. "WTH" > "WTF" etc. Comments about
the race itself, or any comment directed toward any driver in particular. Be
careful what you say, a joke can be taken as a flame. No private flaming or
abuse towards one another will be tolerated either. If another driver sends
me a chat file, screen shot, or personal email of private flaming or verbal
abuse you will be removed from the league without any course of appeal.
You're encouraged to submit a race recap. Race recaps may be used on the
news page as sascar.com.
The SASCAR replay committee consists of five members. Three full time
reviewers & two alternates. Members of the replay committee review all
yellow flag incidents provided by the server replay after an event has been
completed. Three members will decide who they believe is at fault for an
incident & report it to the division coordinator. 2 of the 3 reviewers will
need to agree on who is at fault before a penalty will be handed down. It is
possible that an incident could be called a racing deal due to warp or
inconclusive evidence. If at any time the three full time reviewers are
involved in an incident, they will NOT be allowed to review that incident.
This is where an alternate reviewer will step in to make a call.
Not all members of the replay committee will see an accident the same
way. Thus the reason for the odd number of full time reviewers. We ask that
you respect all reviewers’ final decisions.
The SASCAR replay committee will not specifically look for green flag
racing infractions unless a protest is filed. We must police ourselves. If
you feel someone has violated a rule or has driven in a wreck less manner,
please notify the League Coordinator within twenty-four hours, no violations
will be reviewed if not send within twenty-four hours from race time. A
written description of what you feel was the violation along with the lap
the incident occurred is all that is required. Do not send any personal
replays. The original server replay is the only replay we will look at.
Incidents will be confirmed through the use of the server replay ONLY.
The idea behind this penalty system is to reduce the number of cautions
we may experience per race. Were all human and we all make mistakes from
time to time. Mistakes are part of racing & we understand that they will
occur. The penalty system we've implemented is designed to instill patience
amongst drivers and penalize championship points for each caution that is
displayed. The penalty system is designed to punish those drivers that cause
multiple infractions per race or series by forcing drivers to serve a
one-race suspension.
1) A point deduction penalty system will be utilized.
2) Violations are divided into three categories. Self inflicted, inflicted
and general. Self inflicted violations will be penalized 5 points. Inflicted
and general violations will be penalized 10 points.
3) Being penalized 40 championship points (per series) will result in a
one-race suspension.
4) While serving a suspension you will receive last place or provisional
points.
5) After being penalized 40 points & serving a one-race suspension, another
penalty handed down when you return, or any additional penalties incurred
during a race series will result in additional one-race suspensions.
6) If during the final event of a series, you have accumulated enough
penalty points, and commit an infraction that would give you 40 or more
total penalty points, you will be forced to serve a one-race suspension at
the beginning of the next series.
7) With each new series, all accumulated penalty points will be removed &
all drivers will once again begin with zero penalty points for the new
series.
8) Incidents that will not be penalized are those that include cautions for
blown engines, debris, or obvious warp as shown by the server replay.
